What is Heat Exhaustion?
Heat Exhaustion occurs when the body loses excessive water and electrolytes due to prolonged exposure to high temperatures or outdoor activity. This disrupts the body’s ability to regulate its internal temperature.
Symptoms of Heat Exhaustion
Warning signs:
- 💦 Heavy sweating: Skin becomes moist and clammy
- 😴 Extreme fatigue: Lack of energy, weakness
- 🤕 Headache, dizziness, fainting
- 🤢 Nausea and vomiting
- 🌡️ Cool or slightly elevated body temperature (< 40°C)
- 💢 Muscle cramps due to electrolyte imbalance
- ❤️🔥 Rapid heartbeat and breathing
🚑First Aid for Heat Exhaustion
Take immediate action:
- 🌳 Move to a cooler placeGet the person into shade or an air-conditioned room
- 👕 Loosen clothingRemove excess clothing to help heat dissipation
- 💧 HydrateProvide water or oral rehydration solution (ORS)
- 🧊 Cool the bodyApply a damp cloth or sponge with cool water
